* Written by Maulana Mufti Taqi Osmani *
Fifty years from now, it will be a must-have for the new generation to wish a happy Friday.
And in another fifty or sixty years it will be known as a Sunnah or a duty.
At that time he will tell people that congratulating Jumu'ah is neither Sunnah nor obligatory, but to consider it as such is bid'ah, because doing so is not proven by the Qur'an and Hadith and the Sahabah.
Then people will say to him: You are doing strange things. We have seen our forefathers doing the same thing and their scholars did not forbid them. Do you know more than those scholars?
Rather, you are talking about something new.
That person will be called a Wahhabi of that era and will be arrogant to the elders even though he will be right. And save the next generation from innovation
If it was a good thing to give a happy Friday, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would have commanded it and the Companions would have adopted it because they were certainly ahead of us in understanding religion and loving good deeds.
* وَمَا عَلَيْنَا لاِلاَّ الْبَلاَغُ الْمُبِينُ. *
And our responsibility is no more than to deliver a clear message.
